BIO
Marisol Martinez is a New York–based painter whose work explores the emotional and spiritual dimensions of color, geometry, and lived experience. Through a disciplined visual language of prismatic forms and spatial relationships, Martinez constructs compositions that function as meditative fields—sites of reflection shaped by memory, ritual, and presence.
Her practice is grounded in contrast: between stillness and vibration, containment and expansion, intimacy and architecture. Each form is developed through a deliberate, intuitive process, existing independently while remaining in constant dialogue with surrounding shapes. Color operates not as ornament but as structure—an emotional and psychological register through which meaning accumulates. Together, these elements form a contemplative vocabulary that reflects Martinez’s interior world and invites sustained viewing.
Martinez’s work is deeply informed by her upbringing as the daughter of a funeral director, where daily proximity to death shaped an acute awareness of impermanence, transition, and reverence. This early exposure instilled a quiet spirituality that remains central to her practice. Rather than addressing death directly, her paintings articulate the conditions of living alongside it—grief, resilience, tenderness, and the search for balance—translated into luminous, ordered compositions.
She has lived and worked in New York City, Paris, Miami, and Los Angeles, experiences that continue to influence her sensitivity to space, rhythm, and cultural atmosphere. Her work is further informed by a familial lineage of women whose creative practices encouraged visual expression as a form of continuity and care.
Martinez earned a BBA in Design Marketing and Art from Parsons School of Design at The New School, studying on both the New York and Paris campuses.
